Technology Committee Update – August 2019

There was a lot of activity in July related to River Walk Tech projects.

We worked with Charter Spectrum to have our internet connection at the clubhouse improved. The speed of our connection was increased to 100mb download for the technical readers out there. This was a bump up from 20mb download. Testing was showing between 5-10mb download at the router prior to the update, and 90mb download after the change was completed.

A wifi extender was installed for the Pool as well. This extends the range of the wifi from inside the clubhouse to covering all of the pool seating area. The new wifi access point is called RW Pool. A wifi password will be required to use this access point. The password will be posted at the pool near the check in desk.

In addition to the wifi updates, the security cameras at the clubhouse received some needed maintenance. There were several cameras that had bad or broken connections causing intermittent signal loss to the video recorder. Couplings were replaced on the ends of the cables to address most of the issues. Other cables received a temporary fix until more supplies are received to put a permanent fix in place. The final changes will be made in August. All connected cameras were tested and verified to be working and recording.

The website received routine maintenance as well. There has been a lot of activity on the websites with several residents logging in regularly. If you have any thoughts on the website, new feature requests, content suggestions, etc. please email them to [email protected].

Upcoming projects:

  • Wrap up security camera maintenance at the clubhouse
  • Research vendors for sign-in/check-in attendance tracking software for the clubhouse and pool
